There are so many great novelty quilting cotton fabrics and the Halloween ones get better and better each year! Not being a huge fan of the traditional black and orange Halloween color scheme, I’m delighted to see more and more of these fun holiday prints coming out in pink, purple, and other non-traditional colors.
Last year I picked up this pink one from Art Gallery’s Spooky & Sweet collection and look how cute it is for a Trick or Treat bag! I made the smallest size from the Grocery Bag pattern which is a little bag but definitely big enough to hold way more candy than anyone needs.
This colorway of this print is OOP now, but Art Gallery has a new Halloween collection for 2023 called Spooky & Sweeter and this ghost print has been re-released but with a different color background. You can see this print and more of my favorites in this collection of Halloween fabrics available on etsy.
After making the Trick or Treat bag, I wasn’t ready to stop with this fabric and since making a drawstring bag for my favorite jar (the tiny 1/4 pint Mason jar) has been on my to sew list, I got busy stitching up this little cutie.
To make this bag I used A Tiny Forest’s Jars to Go pattern and took 1.5” off the height of the 1/2 pint jar size. I’ve made a number of these jar bags with this pattern and they are really fun to sew! You can read more about this pattern in this post or this post on my old blog.
