Silicone Heat Resistant Thimbles
Being pretty fond of using steam while ironing, my fingertips suffer the consequences and the price is paid in steam burns. Ouch! Then of course, every now and again I get a nice burn directly from the iron plate.
So when I first saw these heat resistant silicone thimbles from the Gypsy quilter I was intrigued enough to give them a try.
They do work really well for protecting your finger tips while pressing skinny strips of fabric into 4ths for things like drawstrings, hair ties, and thin straps.
They are also pretty comfortable to wear and if I’m making something like a drawstring, I’ll do the pressing and sit down to sew it closed while still wearing them.
But that’s not all these purple thimbles are good for!
They are also fantastic for helping you make gathers and turning the handles and straps right side out. The grippers along the sides make it way less painful to gather fabric and I don’t have so many false starts when turning out the Grocery Bag handles.
These thimbles are definitely something you want to consider adding to your sewing tool kit!
